Q: What is Providence Point?
A: Providence Point is a LifeCare community that opened in 2009 in the South Hills area of Allegheny County near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As a LifeCare community, Providence Point is committed to providing the finest housing, hospitality and healthcare services to residents at a stable and predictable Monthly Fee. Providence Point offers both single-family patio homes and apartment residences in a beautiful neighborhood setting. In addition to LifeCare, Providence Point offers fee-for-service Personal Care and Nursing Care residences.
Q: Who owns and operates Providence Point?
A: The community is owned by Baptist Homes Society, a not-for-profit Pennsylvania non-stock corporation serving the Pittsburgh area since 1910. Baptist Homes Society is a faith-based organization that serves individuals of all faiths. It is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors set up to establish the vision, mission and values, and to provide financial and operational oversight for the organization and its subsidiaries.
Q: What types of residences are available?
A: Single-family, single-story Patio Homes, ranging in size from approximately 1,589 to 2,000 square feet, in three floor plans. Apartment Residences, located within the six-story main community building, ranging in size from approximately 761 to 2,106 square feet, in 13 floor plans.
Floor plans for both types of residence are flexible, and designed to allow for a number of options, custom features and upgrades.
Q: What kinds of fees do residents of Providence Point pay?
A: Residents of Providence Point pay a one-time Entrance Fee, and then a recurring Monthly Fee upon moving into the community, as is the case with all continuing care retirement communities. The Entrance Fee affords residents the exclusive use of the residence and community common areas, and provides for their future long-term healthcare needs within the community. Because Providence Point is a LifeCare community, a portion of both the Entrance Fee and Monthly Fee may be deducted for tax purposes. The Entrance Fee and Monthly Fee will vary based on the size of residence chosen.
Q: What amenities are available for residents?
A: Abundant amenities are available at Providence Point, including a Wellness Center with indoor heated swimming pool and whirlpool spa, multiple dining venues, a Day Spa, a surround-sound movie theater, a library with Internet access, banking, a classroom, an arts studio, an indoor golf simulator, and much more. Dining options, a wide range of cultural, recreational, spiritual and fitness activities, housekeeping every other week, maintenance, access to the Wellness Center, LifeCare (if selected in the contract), scheduled transportation, and more. Plus, your Monthly Fee entitles you to $350 in discretionary dollars each month, available to use in any of our dining venues, for spa and salon services, and for some of our other community activities. Q: Which healthcare services are included in the Monthly Fee?
A: Our specialized LifeCare program, offered in the finest environment in the area, is included and provides private personal care apartments, private residences for memory support (Alzheimer’s/dementia) and private nursing care accommodations. In addition, residents of Providence Point have access to an on-site healthcare clinic. Outpatient services offered through the resident clinic includes a variety of physician, dental and therapy services. There is no obligation to use the clinic, and residents are free to engage a healthcare provider of their choice.
Q: Is the Entrance Fee or Monthly Fee subject to change?
A: Both the Entrance Fee and Monthly Fee are reviewed annually by the Board of Directors and management and adjusted based on actual operating costs and sound financial practices. A 30-day written notice will be provided to all Providence Point residents in advance of any increase in your Monthly Fee. You may “lock in” your Entrance Fee at today’s rates for a move in the future. Once you become a resident of Providence Point your Entrance Fee is locked in and will not increase.
